“The Sacred Meal” by Nora Gallagher is part of “The Ancient Practices Series” which is a series of eight book. The book is interesting, and keeps you on turning the pages without even noticing it. The book describes communion and the time before it, which is the ‘Waiting’, then ‘Receiving’, and lastly the ‘Afterward’. But then, I felt kind of disappointed with the book too. She told some stories that really had no connection to the book at all, but they were interesting.
I really have a hard time as to what I should say about this book. There were without a doubt excellent parts, then there were some that left you wanting more, or asking ‘what did that have to do with anything?’. But over all I think I would recommend this book.
