I just finished reading “The King and Dr. Nick” and overall thought it was ok. Dr. Nick was Elvis’s doctor and he was watching over Elvis’s health for his last 10 years. You get to see the side of Elvis that only family members and close friends see.

Overall I was not wowed by this book, but it was still worth picking up and reading. I not really sure I liked the authors way of writing but I liked the story of the book. A really cool thing though was that Dr. Nick included pictures in the book, which I think is always a plus!

The Sacred Meal by Nora Gallagher

”The Sacred Meal” by Nora Gallagher is part of “The Ancient Practices Series” which is a series of eight book. The book is interesting, and keeps you on turning the pages without even noticing it. The book describes communion and the time before it, which is the ‘Waiting’, then ‘Receiving’, and lastly the ‘Afterward’. But then, I felt kind of disappointed with the book too. She told some stories that really had no connection to the book at all, but they were interesting.

I really have a hard time as to what I should say about this book. There were without a doubt excellent parts, then there were some that left you wanting more, or asking ‘what did that have to do with anything?’. But over all I think I would recommend this book.

Finding Purpose Beyond our Pain

In “Finding Purpose Beyond our Pain” I was slightly disappointed. Psychiatrists Paul Meier and David Henderson explain ways of getting through our pain. They used biblical versus to show how pain is something that’s not god or bad and tell that every person has gone through pain before. Their ways of getting through the pain are not new or extraordinary, but solid information you can rely on.

I was not terribly impressed with this book when I was done, but it is worth reading. It took a while for me to read, but it was still ok in the end. If you are going through a hard time, you might want to get this book. It could really help you out.

Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World by Dr. David Jeremiah

So many things are happening in this world, and how are we suppose to stay confident in it? In ‘Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World’ by Dr. David Jeremiah addresses these issues and many more, and answers urgent questions like:

How can we weather this storm with a calm heart?

What does it truly mean to “wait on the Lord”?

What is Jesus saying to our chaotic world today?

How on earth did we get into this mess?

Can we take a broken world and rebuild it into something fruitful?

This book is up to date with current events like the loss of jobs, the fight for oil in the Middle East, wars, and much more. He gives the reader biblical advice on what we should do next. Some of the most important lessons he tells us is to stay calm, compassionate, constructive, and much more (Each chapter is based on a lesson, which is the chapters name).

This book is a must read! It helps you know what you need to do in a world that is always changing and how to be confident while you do it! This is an easy read and you wont get confused while reading it!

The Search for God and Guinness By Stephen Mansfield

This book was really interesting. When you think of beer and church you don’t think the two mix together that well do you? This book is pretty interesting, even if you don’t like beer at all. The fist chapter was talking about the history of beer. The next chapter was explaining about what how they used their money to help the community and just help in general.

This book was pretty good, but not one of the best I’ve read. Like I said even if you don’t like beer, you’ll still find this an interesting read. I thought some things could have been better, but you’ll always find things like that in every book you read. Overall I think this book made you think, but I would not go out of my way to read it.

Green by Ted Dekker

Green is a wonderful book of Ted Dekker’s. It is suppose to be the beginning of the series and the end of the series at the same time. I personally do not think you should start off with this book if you’re new to the series because you know what’s going to happen at the very end of the series and it’s hard to know what’s going on. I would suggest you start off with Black. The story takes place thousands of years into the future and the main character Thomas Hunter and he and his people have to fight their enemy, the Hord. I would not suggest little kids read it because of all the gore of war, but teenagers and above would like it.

I loved the book! I thought it was great through out the whole book. I never wanted to put it down because I was so absorbed into it! Ted Dekker has a unique style of writing that makes you see the beauty of the words he picks. I have been waiting for what feels like forever to read this book, and it exceeded to my expectations! It is a must read!

This is a true story about following you dream! Eli Gold was a young boy obsessed with sports. He was in love with them. When he could not see the game when he was selling peanuts he was listening to his little radio keeping up with everything that was going on! He was still in high school when he started doing TV commentary for NASCAR. He is one of the most well known voices in sport casting. He has been living his dream for over 25 years now!

I was amazed how much work had to be put into his job! I thought they just talked about stuff as it was happening, but my eyes are now opened! I was a little disappointed at the lack of depth that went into his life story, but he does a fantastic job telling you about the sports form the 70’s to today! Even though the lack of depth was a little disappointing, this book is still wonderful! If you are interested in sports you should defiantly read this book!
